If you are travelling abroad for any reason whatsoever and thereby plan to take along the object of art, it is your obligation to come to the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia, in order to be given the Decision permitting you to export the work of art abroad.

It is necessary that you do the following:

  • TO COME VISIT US IN THE PERIOD FROM 09:00 AM TILL 2:00 PM (save for the week-end).
  • TO BRING ALONG THE OBJECT OF ART (objects)FOR EXPERT EVALUATION (only authors have the right to bring along the photographs of the object(s)).
  • TO FILL IN THEAPPLICATION FORM IN THE INSTITUTE OR PRINT IT BY DOWNLOADING FROM THE INSTITUTE WEB PAGE (PDF - 100 KB)
  • TO HAVE THE ADDRESS, PERSONAL IDENTITY NUMBER, OR PASSPORT NUMBER OF THE APPLICANT.
  • TO HAVE THE REGISTRATION NUMBER OR PASSPORT NUMBER AND THE NAME OF THE PERSON EXPORTING THE OBEJCT (natural person or legal entity).
  • TO PAY THE TAX AND EXPERT EVALUATION EXPENSES (Pricelist - PDF - 160 KB) WITH THE PAYMENT ORDERS (Payment orders - PDF - 140 KB) WHICH YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM US. PAYMENT SHALL BE MADE IN THE POST OFFICE OR IN THE BANK.
  • You can obtain the Decision within 24 hours, (if it concerns the work of art not older than 50 years), meaning that you have to visit us on Thursday if you are travelling on Monday since we are not open for business on Saturdays and Sundays.

    And if you are in the possession of the object of art, collected works or collection which are older than 50 years it should not surprise you that you would not obtain the Decision on exportation during the next business day. In that case you should visit the Institute three weeks before the planned travel, since there is a possibility that you might be the owner of the object of art which is important for the world, namely, for the national cultural heritage. Should that be evaluated as such, your application may be forwarded for further expert evaluation to be made in one of our museums. That will mean that the museum would contact you telling you when you can bring the object of art for their insight. Thereafter the museum will notify us whether the export can be done or not. And it would furthermean that we would inform you when you can take over the Decision on whether the export is permitted or not.

    • THAT YOU CAN GET A COPY OF THE DECISION FROM US (Pricelist - PDF - 160 KB)
    • THAT WE CAN EXTEND THE PERMIT VALIDITY WHICH EXPIRED (Pricelist - PDF - 160 KB)

    That which youshould not expect from us:

    • ISSUING OF THE DECISION THE SAME DAY THE APLLICATION WAS SUBMITTED
    • THAT YOU WILL LEAVE THE WORKS OF ART WITH US FOR KEEPING
    • THAT WE SAFEGUARD YOUR PERSONAL EFFECTS
    • THAT WE PERFORM PACKING AND TRANSPORT OF THE OBJECTS OF ART
    • THAT WE PERFORM MATERIAL APPRAISAL
    • THAT WE ISSUE CERTIFICATES
